How to deal with burnout while looking for jobs
Burnouts are real! And more serious if you are exploring opportunities with ngos/nonprofits in south Asia! We are sharing 4-tips which will help you prevent burnout while you are looking for jobs in India or with ngos in South Asia
- Candidates now do seek transparency in salary ranges, organisation culture and growth as the first 3-things while shortlisting/applying for jobs. Do check if you’re exploring opportunities or planning transition.
- Technology is evolving and so the process of hiring! Avoid easy application process – as expect many folks applying for same job and the competition. This is the most important aspect- read JD, read about org > apply if align only. ~80% folks I interact with feel burnout at some point in the hiring process and that is because they apply for everything they see! No, stop that right now!
- Do not leave the hiring process in between! If you get something in between – keep your hiring manager informed! This build trust and help you in future when you look for transition again! Avoid excuses! Assignments are key [and burnout too]! ~50% of your competition is out at the assignment stage itself [as they don’t submit the assignment itself]. This burnout pays quickly!
- Short stints are red flags! If you are serious about career in nonprofits- short stints might not help you in longer run! If these are because of FCRA issues/Project closures/career or maternity breaks- DO Mention clearly!
